Babson Capital Europe Limited is one of the largest European loan managers, with €6.5 billion in assets under management in various senior debt and mezzanine funds (as at 30th June 2010).
Babson Capital Europe was set up in 2000 as Duke Street Capital Debt Management Limited, part of the Duke Street Capital group, as a platform for establishing an extensive multi-fund European loan management business. Babson Capital Europe was acquired by Babson Capital Management LLC in May 2004 and was renamed Babson Capital Europe Limited in September 2004. Our core focus is managing senior secured loans, mezzanine loans and leveraged buyout related high yield bonds.

Who we serve
Babson Capital Europe's clients cover the globe, from Europe to the Far East. Our diverse client base ranges from banks, insurance companies and pension funds to charities and family offices. A wide range of investors are attracted to European loan funds. This is primarily due to a combination of attractive forecast returns and the strong historic management of the funds, with asset sourcing, analysis, investment and ongoing performance measurement all handled internally by one of the largest and most experienced teams in the industry.
An experienced team
Babson Capital Europe's management team is led by Ian Hazelton. Ian has more than 25 years buyout market experience and started the business in 2000, joining from the Royal Bank of Scotland, where he was Managing Director of Leveraged Finance. Ian is also Chairman of the Babson Capital Europe Credit Committees. The management team also includes David Wilmot, former Head of UK Leveraged Finance at Société Générale, with over 20 years buyout market experience; Zak Summerscale, formerly a Senior High Yield Bond manager at New Flag Asset Management; Oliver Burgel who has been with Babson Capital Europe since inception and joined from London Business School where he worked on private equity and leveraged finance research; and Adam Eifion-Jones, formerly Managing Director of the mid-market Corporate and Structured Finance business within the Royal Bank of Scotland.
